Three Brinks Gilson & Lione Women Shareholders Named to Crain's Chicago 2020 Notable Women in Law

CHICAGO – Brinks Gilson & Lione, one of the nation's largest intellectual property law firms, is proud to announce that shareholders Betsy J. Derwinski, Laura A. Lydigsen, and Virginia Wolk Marino have all been named to the Crain’s Chicago Business list of 2020 Notable Women in Law.

Crain’s 2020 Notable Women in Law recognizes accomplished women attorneys serving in senior roles at law firms in the Chicago area who have shown the ability to affect change within their practice or firm and contribute to the legal community at large. Inclusion also highlights their service as mentors to fellow women and their commitment to promote inclusive practices in the workplace.

About the Shareholders

Betsy J. Derwinski is a seasoned patent prosecutor with over 15 years of experience focused on U.S. and foreign patent application preparation and prosecution matters in the medical device, athletic apparel, and sports equipment industries. Betsy serves as senior relationship shareholder managing the patent portfolio for one of the world’s largest athletic apparel and equipment manufacturers. She also serves on Brinks’ Diversity and Associate Evaluation Committees.

Laura A. Lydigsen is the chair of the firm’s appellate practice group with more than 15 years of intellectual property litigation experience at the district court and appellate levels, in addition to proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Her focus is on pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices. Laura also serves on the Brinks Board of Directors and is a member of the Executive Committee.

Virginia Wolk Marino is an accomplished trademark attorney of over 12 years, focused on domestic and global brand protection, copyright and unfair competition law, including pre-litigation and litigation activities in front of the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). Her extensive experience includes the acquisition, maintenance, licensing, enforcement and transfer of intellectual property with an emphasis on the selection and clearance of trademarks in the biopharmaceutical sector. She is a co-chair of the Brinks Hiring Committee and is committed to serving as a mentor to young associates.
