Chambers USA Again Honors Brinks Gilson & Lione Attorneys and Firm for IP Work

CHICAGO (May 3, 2018) – Brinks Gilson & Lione, one of the nation's largest intellectual property law firms, recently received its 14th consecutive Chambers USA ranking for work across the IP spectrum, including trade secret, copyright, and patent infringement cases, among others.

Chambers USA, which now covers 185 jurisdictions, has ranked lawyers and law firms since 1990 on technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities valued by clients. Chambers also honored five individual Brinks attorneys, including:

  • Shareholder and copyright practice group chair William Frankel was honored for his work with a broad range of patent, trademark and copyright infringement cases as well as misuse of trade secrets allegations. He was also noted for his experience advising clients on alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

  • Shareholder Jerome Gilson was again named a Senior Statesman and was honored as an "extraordinarily knowledgeable" trademark specialist. Gilson has a wealth of litigation experience, and Chambers noted “he offers expert assistance in connection with USPTO, PTAB and appellate proceedings.”

  • Shareholder Ryan Marshall was recognized for extensive experience in patent prosecution on behalf of clients in the chemical, pharmaceutical, biochemical and medical device industries.

  • Shareholder Laura Miller was recognized as a litigator with significant experience handling patent, copyright and misuse of trade secrets disputes. Chambers noted she has a strong knowledge of IP law and the mechanics of litigation.

  • Shareholder Gary Ropski was recognized as a seasoned litigator noted for his abilities assisting with PTAB inter partes reviews involving mechanical and engineering patents.

Chambers evaluation of Brinks focused on qualities such as technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, and commercial astuteness. The rankings of individual shareholders were based on legal knowledge, effectiveness, and client service.
