CHICAGOYuezhong Feng, Ph.D., an intellectual property attorney at Brinks Gilson & Lione, has been named by Lawyers of Color to its second annual Hot List, which recognizes early-to mid-career attorneys of color who have achieved prominence and distinction in their field, and who have demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing diversity in the legal profession.

Each honoree is profiled in Lawyers of Color's Hot List 2014 issue, and those in the Midwest region were recognized at a reception at the Chicago office of law firm Quarles & Brady on July 14.

Dr. Feng’s practice focuses on litigating patent, Hatch-Waxman (ANDA), and International Trade Commission (ITC) Section 337 cases; counseling and preparing opinions; and preparing and prosecuting patent applications on behalf of clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, nanotechnology, chemical and electrical engineering industries. In addition to his law degree, he holds a doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of Chicago.

Dr. Feng is a frequent speaker on intellectual property matters in the U.S. and China. He has presented at patent, ITC, and litigation conferences and seminars, including programs sponsored by the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China (SIPO), LexisNexis, The John Marshall Law School, East China University of Political Science and Law, China Shippers' Association under the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, Guangdong Food and Drug Administration and Guangdong Bar Association.

The Lawyers of Color selection committee of editorial staff, advisors, and law school fellows and interns reviewed nominations from attorneys' mentors, peers and colleagues and researched bar publications and legal blogs to identify promising candidates for the Hot List. The committee also made editorial picks based on its research of attorneys who had noteworthy accomplishments or were active in legal pipeline initiatives.
