“I understand technology and where technology is moving, so I can help clients get the patents that are most valuable to them.”

In his 13 years as a patent prosecution attorney at Brinks Gilson & Lione, Scott Brim has developed both breadth and depth, advising all his clients on how to obtain patents and secure the assets that are most valuable to them. Scott has built long-term relationships with many clients in the fields of memory systems, navigation systems, and e-commerce, advising several for more than 10 years. Throughout these long relationships, Scott has been integral in drafting and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications.

With an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, Scott brings a broad technical background to his clients. He has written and prosecuted patent applications across a range of innovations, including financial derivatives for a U.S. financial exchange, LED lights for a multinational manufacturer of semiconductor light-emitting diode materials and devices, and telecommunication devices and networks for a multinational telecommunications corporation.

As one of the founders of the firm’s Washington, D.C. practice, Scott provides his clients with valuable insights into the workings of the Patent Office. He brings that insight to every facet of the patent process, from brainstorming with inventors about cutting-edge technology to preparing and prosecuting domestic and foreign applications. Through all of his work, he helps clients in thinking forward to obtain patents and secure the rights that hold the most value for the company for now and for the future.
