As an engineer in the automotive industry, Laine has experience with both the upstream design and the downstream manufacturing ends of the development process. As a result, she understands the larger picture of technical devices and processes.
After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering, Laine worked as a process engineer dealing with complex manufacturing processes and control systems in technical centers, sheet metal stamping plants, and die shops. She later worked as a design release engineer for structural components of vehicles, focusing on meeting national safety requirements; evaluating computer simulation and physical test results; and overcoming design and manufacturing issues during program launches.
