Adam Sussman focuses his practice on pharmaceutical and chemical patent preparation and prosecution. With years of experience challenging patent validity on behalf of generic pharmaceutical clients, he prosecutes patent applications to maximize enforcement potential.
Throughout his years of practice, Adam has drafted and prosecuted patent applications on various subject matters, including chemical compositions of matter, crystal forms, pharmaceutical formulations, dietary supplements, chemical processes, medical devices, probiotics, and orthodontic systems.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with honors from the University of Pennsylvania, Adam moved to Chicago to pursue a doctoral degree and perform synthetic organic chemistry research at the University of Illinois. His research was featured in the Journal of the American Chemical Society in 2009, and he received a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago the following year. A skilled scientist as well as writer, Adam’s colleagues encouraged him to consider practicing patent law.
A Markey Scholar in Intellectual Property and a managing editor of The John Marshall Review of Intellectual Property Law, Adam graduated from The John Marshall Law School in 2014.
