Patent Attorney Oehler to Moderate IPR Session at IPLAC and PTAB Bar Regional Seminar
December 05, 2017

CHICAGO—James M. Oehler, a patent attorney at intellectual property law firm Brinks Gilson & Lione, will moderate the IPR Mini Bootcamp at the inaugural PTAB Practice Chicago Regional IPR Seminar, to be hosted by the PTAB Bar Association and the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago (IPLAC) at The John Marshall Law School on December 7, 2017.

The 90-minute IPR Mini Bootcamp will feature a panel of intellectual property attorneys who will introduce the basics of inter partes review proceedings to practitioners, students, and others interested in practice before the PTAB.

Oehler is a patent prosecutor and litigator who applies his background in mechanical engineering to protecting diverse technologies, including for clients in the medical devices industry and the automotive industry, including for transmissions, selective catalytic reduction systems, and accessories; heat exchange systems; fiber optic coupling systems; exercise equipment, and paper products.

In addition to the IPR Mini Bootcamp, the PTAB Practice Chicago Regional IPR Seminar will include an update on the PTAB from Administrative Patent Judge David McKone, panel sessions on inter partes review issues from both petitioner and patent owner perspectives, and a networking reception.

The PTAB Bar Association seeks to foster communication between lawyers, Administrative Patent Judges (APJs), and other officials with regard to developments and best practices related to rule-making, procedure, and jurisprudence emanating from the PTAB.

IPLAC, the oldest intellectual property law association in the United States, advocates for the development and protection of intellectual property law and provides networking opportunities for Chicago-area intellectual property professionals.
