Brinks Gilson & Lione Ranked in Top 250 Law Firms for 2009
CHICAGO - Brinks Gilson & Lione has been recognized by National Law Journal (NLJ) as one of the largest 250 law firms in the United States, for the first time in the firm's history. Brinks ranked #230 in NLJ's 32nd annual "Top 250" listing for 2009.
Notably, Brinks was among the very few U.S.-based law firms that added to their headcounts during the past year. In contrast, nationwide law firm employment shrank by 4 percent, according to NLJ. Brinks has more than 180 attorneys, scientific advisors, and patent agents who specialize in intellectual property litigation and all aspects of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, unfair competition, intellectual asset management, and technology and licensing agreements.
NLJ's annual survey ranked the nation's law firms by size for the period from October 1, 2008 to September 30, 2009. Rankings are based on NLJ's own survey, along with data from the National Association for Law Placement and individual law firm Web sites. To qualify, a firm must have more lawyers employed in the U.S. than in any other single country. Firms are ranked according to the total number of full-time or equivalent attorneys employed at the firm, rather than just full-time attorneys. The ranking also includes the total number of non-partner and non-associate lawyers at a firm.
The National Law Journal is one of the leading national legal publications, with more than 60,000 readers and the largest paid circulation of any weekly publication serving the legal profession.
