Brinks Gilson & Lione Patent Litigator Laura Beth Miller To Present on Board Leadership at WIB-Chicago Women's History Month Event
CHICAGO—Laura Beth Miller, a shareholder and patent litigator at intellectual property law firm Brinks Gilson & Lione, will be a featured presenter at Women In Bio-Chicago’s Women’s History Month event, “Shattering the Glass Ceiling: Navigating To and Through the Boardroom,” on March 21, 2017, at healthcare startup incubator Matter.
Miller will be joined by a panel of speakers representing a cross-section of business and technology organizations for a discussion about the challenge of achieving diversity in the boardroom, particularly in the life sciences industry. The panelists will explore the skills and experiences sought by boards, career path considerations for positioning oneself for board service, potential challenges preventing advancement, and resources available to women interested in corporate board service, including Women In Bio’s Boardroom Ready program.
Miller is a deeply experienced intellectual property litigator whose practice focuses on patent, trade secret, and trademark law, and is a member of Brinks' board of directors and its executive committee. Miller also serves on the board of directors for Legal Prep Charter Academy, a legal-themed college preparatory high school in Chicago, and as president of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago Educational Foundation, an organization that awards scholarships to Chicago public high school students who will major in a science, engineering, or pre-law program in college.
